Gerda
I paint what the eye feels before the mind names it — a fleeting quality of light, the restlessness of water, the quiet strength in a figure.
Daria Gerasimova was born in Ryazan in 1990 and began studying drawing and watercolor independently at the age of 25, without formal academic art education. In 2019, she fully devoted herself to art and expanded her practice to oil painting, developing a distinct visual language shaped by light, movement, and human presence.
Her paintings explore themes of freedom, femininity, and the relationship between people and nature. She often paints seascapes, women, and solitary figures — working on linen canvas without colored priming, allowing the texture and emptiness of the surface to support a sense of openness and focus.
Her work is held in private collections across Russia, the USA, Europe, Asia, and Australia. She has created more than 400 paintings and exhibited internationally in New York, Paris, Madrid, and Moscow. In August 2023, her painting "Summer With My Friend" appeared on the cover of Judy Blume's bestseller Summer Sisters (Bantam Books NY / Penguin Random House). In May 2025, she was featured in the book You Can Become Anyone You Choose by Be Art New York.
